The 104th Annual Gathering of the Agai-dikas of the Salmon River, Idaho
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes (“Tribes”) sponsors the Annual Gathering of the Agai-dika in the Salmon and Lemhi River Valley, to celebrate the continued return of the Agai-dika, the Tuku-dika, and the mixed bands of Bannock people to the area. This area is culturally and historically important to the Tribes. The event includes a Tribal Camp, social dancing, games, sunrise prayer, and a difficult 12-mile Run/Walk from Tendoy, Idaho to the top of Lemhi Pass, into Montana. This Agai-dika gathering is open to the public, both Indian and non-Indian and all are invited to participate. This year’s activities are scheduled for June 17,18, 19, 2011.
The annual gathering is a spiritual commemoration of the numerous Indian families who were forcibly removed from their ancestral homelands of the Lemhi valley in Idaho to the Fort Hall Indian Reservation by the U.S. Calvary in 1907. This year, the Honena Family is hosting the Spiritual Annual Walk/Run in honor of our Great-Grandfather Chief Tendoy, and the many families who were removed.
